- Stalling somewhere that put the car in danger

The road test is by appointment (book at dot.nd.gov or call 1-855-633-6835) and every test vehicle passes an equipment inspection first — the test won't go ahead if the vehicle or anything else is unsafe. Pets (other than service animals), passengers, and phones are not allowed in the car during the test. A failed test cannot be retaken the same day. NDDOT charges a $5.00 road test fee. The Class D road test can be waived if you present a North Dakota Driving School Certificate of Course Completion for at least 30 classroom hours and six hours behind the wheel.
