Every practice question, state fact, and road-sign entry on this site and in the DMV Prep app is written from the official documents listed below. This page lists all of them, not a sample.

We are not a government agency

DMV Prep is an independent study app and website. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or connected to any DMV, Department of Motor Vehicles, Bureau of Motor Vehicles, state licensing agency, or any other government body. Nothing here is legal advice, and no practice test is an official examination. For licensing requirements, fees, laws, and appointments, always use your own state agency's website and the current edition of its handbook.

State handbooks

One row per state, with the publishing agency, the handbook we use for each exam track, and the date we last checked that the link and edition were current. Motorcycle handbooks are listed where the state publishes a separate one; otherwise that material comes from the driver handbook in the same row.

How we use them

Questions are written by us from these documents; we do not copy handbook text, and the app is not a reproduction of any handbook. Where a state's rule differs from the federal default, the state document wins for that state. Our full sourcing, review, and correction process is in the content methodology, and published guides follow a separate editorial policy.
