- A dangerous or illegal maneuver

- Refusing to attempt a maneuver the examiner asked for
- Stalling somewhere that put the car in danger

What the examiner checks
- Two stop signs, one with an obstructed view where possible
- Two traffic signals
- Two lane changes
- Two intersections without a turn
- A three-point turn, or entering and exiting a parking space
- Three left turns, including one onto a multi-lane road
- Three right turns, including one onto a multi-lane road
- One parking maneuver
- Observing, communicating, speed adjustment, vehicle positioning, time-and-space judgment, and hazard perception are scored throughout
Louisiana road skills tests are commonly administered by DPS-certified third-party testers (driving schools) under contract with OMV rather than at OMV offices directly; the fee for a road skills test may not exceed $40 per administration. It is an automatic failure if the vehicle has a dual brake and the examiner has to use it for any reason.
